George Frederick Freeland
George Frederick Freeland White 1862 - 1935
Lilian Adeline White's Uncle - Brother to her father Gilbert White
Note Freeland was his Mothers maiden name.
George was born, educated, worked, married and died in Warrington, UK.
Born in September 1862, George was educated at Boteler Grammar School - a very prestigious school founded in 1526.
In 1886 he as admitted as a solicitor and was articled to his father's firm Nicholson, White and Nicholson.
He served as Assistant Deputy Clerk to the Justices and in 1901 he became Clerk to the Magistrates.
In 1902 he was in practice with his brother Edward Aubrey White at 3 Egypt Street, Warrington.
He married Dora Bowden in 1904 and together they had three children; Elizabeth, William and Cyril.
The article below states that he was:
"a vestry clerk for the parish of Holy Trinity and for many years was a member of the Warrington Musical Society and for some years acted as honorary librarian, his love of music being well known.
No doubt in a great measure owing to his position as magistrates clerk, which carries with it a great deal of responsibility, takes no active part in political and municipal affaires, but nevertheless he watches very closely the development of local events."
I cannot give a citation of where this article can be found as unfortunately I did not record it at the time and nor can I find it again - lesson learned ! when I find it I will cite it correctly.
